Mini Biography
An early ambition
At eight-years-old, Steve became interested in TV production and cameras. Lacking access to real cameras in the early 1980s, he crafted studio-style cameras from crisp boxes, dreaming of being a cameraman. At 16, he borrowed a family friend's video camera and began filming and editing family events while studying Electronics Engineering at Huddersfield Technical College.
After three years in college, he worked five years as an electronics engineer for a CCTV company, all while filming weddings and networking at a local film club. In 1996, he left his electronics job to become a freelance cameraman, creating successful DVDs about Yorkshire. His career took off in 1999 when he became a regular with Mezzo Films in Leeds, where he built strong relationships with other professionals.
In 2019, Steve invented a mirror box accessory for interviews, inspired by the EyeDirect system. The VoxBox Pro (and now the VoxBox Air), is user-friendly and has sold hundreds globally, even used by HRH Prince William! Steve is the Founder and CEO of PrimeLight Design, the company behind the VoxBox Air and a folding teleprompter.
